Stacey Solomon’s blistering Royal Family speech resurfaces and goes viral

Stacey Solomon ‘s blistering attack on the Royal Family has gone viral as a clip of her questioning their worth resurfaced years later.

Her comments came during a discussion on Loose Women in 2018, and are once again doing the rounds on social media.

Stacey, who first appeared on the ITV daytime show in 2016, was chatting with colleagues Christine Lampard, Linda Robson and Jane Moore when she raised questions about the UK’s “obsession” with the Royals.

“I don’t get why we’re so obsessed with these humans that are exactly the same,” she says, “It could be us four sitting there, I just don’t get it.”

Jane raises the idea that the Royals are “becoming like celebrities”, to which Stacey answers: “To me, that’s what they are.”

Jane contends: “The Queen to me is brilliant. For duty, responsibility, as a figurehead.”

When Linda says that the Queen works hard, Stacey adds: “But I would work hard if the whole country paid for me to have like 12 houses and work really hard.”

“They don’t pay for all the houses,” Jane says, “We contribute about £39m a year. It costs £300m a year to run the Royal Family.

“But I’m with you. After the Queen, I’d have them all on bicycles and living in a terraced house. But I love the Queen, I think she’s fantastic.”

Later in the discussion, Stacey suggests that the money used on the Royals could be re-directed at other causes – such as tackling homelessness.

“It’s freezing cold outside and people are homeless and these people have houses to spare and it does sometimes become a little bit frustrating because I don’t see the purpose of all that money going to this entire family,” Stacey vents.

Her remarks have since divided social media users, with many defending the Royal Family while others applauded Stacey for stating her case so plainly.

“Never thought I’d agree with Stacey Solomon but she is bang on here!” one wrote.

Another reckoned: “Think what you want about Stacey Solomon but what she said about the Royal Family is absolutely correct. We do not need a monarchy anymore, never did.”

Another, though, argued: “Sorry #staceysolomon don’t agree with you on this one chick. The Royals do lots for charity, so spouting about homeless people and spare houses doesn’t mean the royal family don’t ‘have a point’. They were here way before ‘celebrities’ and that whole culture.”
