Queen ‘left disappointed’ by Meghan and Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview
The Queen was reportedly left “disappointed” with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.
Her Majesty, who is 95 today, was said to have been deflated by the comments and accusations made against the family on the programme which was shown worldwide.
A source told MailOnline: “The Queen has made it clear to senior advisers that she is united with Charles and William, and was disappointed with aspects of Harry and Meghan’s interview.”
In the explosive interview, the Sussexes accused members of the Royal Family of racism and the institution of failing to support Meghan when she was suicidal.
The source added: “There is much pain and hurt on both sides, so this reconciliation will take place in baby steps.
However, a royal biographer has also claimed that the Queen isn’t in the mood to host a family summit to address the feud just yet.
Author Ingrid Seward said the monarch “hates confrontation”.
Sources told the Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers that Harry wrote his father a “deeply personal” note before Prince Philip’s funeral as he tried to ease tensions within the family.
It’s thought that Charles was hoping to see his youngest son after the service but the Duke of Sussex told him he wasn’t sticking around.
There have been conflicting reports over the extent of any private talks between the Prince of Wales and his warring sons following the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral in Windsor on Saturday.
At the funeral, it’s thought that Kate tried to play peacemaker between William and Harry.
It is reported that she has found the brothers’ rift “upsetting” and intends to bring the pair closer again.
A source told the Telegraph: “Being so close to her own siblings, Pippa and James, and having witnessed first hand the special bond between William and Harry, she has found the whole situation difficult and upsetting.
“Her natural instinct is to try to smooth things over.”
Meghan is also said to want the brothers to heal their broken relationship.
