Thousands of shoppers are loving the weighted blanket claiming it helps you fall asleep faster

A WEIGHTED blanket has received over 7,000 five star reviews for helping insommiacs and people with anxiety get a good night’s sleep.

The Quilty Weighted Blanket aims to emulate the feeling of a comforting hug, and can help you fall asleep faster and sleep better throughout the night.

The product, which starts at $59.70 (£46) is made up of seven layers that contain millions of “premium micro glass beads” to give it its weighted effect.

According to reports, by gently distributing pressure across your body the blanket increases serotonin and melatonin levels and decreases cortisol levels—improving your mood and promoting restful sleep.

In a similar way to swaddling a baby, the weight and pressure on an adult provides near-instant comfort and relief.

By maximising relaxation and minimising body movement, it also claims to put the person into a deeper sleep.
