Meghan Markle tells Ellen five-month-old Lilibet has already started ‘teething’
Meghan Markle has told how “happy” she and Prince Harry are in California although she would like something to relieve daughter Lilibet’s teething pain.
The Duchess of Sussex was being interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres who joked that she should try “tequila” in the preview of their chat which will be aired in full on Thursday.
It is the second major interview that Meghan has made since she and Harry moved to the US last year, with her being highly critical of the Royal Family during the chat with Oprah Winfrey.
But in a brief clip of her interview with long-term friend Ellen the conversation centred around her new life and also how difficult it was for her starting out as an actress.
She said she was looking for “anything to relieve” Lilibet’s teething pain and Ellen replied: “Tequila, anything.”
Meghan Markle told how Lilibet is struggling with teething (
Meghan replied: “That’s Auntie Ellen for you” and the talk show host accepted: “That’s why I don’t have kids.”
Talking about living at their Montecito mansion, Meghan admitted that the Sussexes were “just happy” with life.
Since moving to the US, Harry and Meghan have taken aim at the Royal Family in several interviews for the life they lead and the way that Meghan was treated.
In the Oprah interview, Meghan alleged racism against one of the royals who questioned what the colour would be of her first baby and that she had “suicidal thoughts” due to her unhappiness in England.
Harry also said that he realised he needed to break the cycle of life in the Royal Family and bring up his children in a different environment.
But while Buckingham Palace may have been worried whether Meghan would make fresh allegations, instead the interview clip with Ellen centred on other topics.
Meghan’s makeup artist Daniel Martin said the interview looked at her “funny side”.
He said: “We [he and hairstylist Jason Low] were backstage the entire time,’ he said. ‘It’s really fun and Ellen really pulled out Meghan’s goofy, funny side, which everyone will be able to finally see.”
The clip that again hinted at Meghan’s alleged financial troubles when she started out her acting career, which may well be jumped on as she was still able to go through private school paid for by her dad Thomas Markle.
Meghan has also posted on social media in the past about at dining regularly at expensive restaurants in Hollywood including Musso and Frank Grill.
She told Ellen: “So I had this very old Ford Explore Sport and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door so after auditions I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in, pull the door shut behind me and crawl all over my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro.”
Meghan added: “I would park on gate three and I would scoot on over and the security guards here would always say ‘break a leg, I hope you get it’.
“So driving today was very different.”
